As the Scenic Designer I frequently met with the director, Kiley Towne, and production team As we developed and built the retro-futuristic world of this play. Kiley's initial concept was Sterile vs Organic. She wanted to see the play start off very sterile and rigid and become more organic as we move through each scene, the final scene takes place 10 years after humanity has gone extinct and we wanted to see how nature reclaims this post humanity world. I took this and researched what plants could survive in harsh environments and played with things like bacteria that would be deadly to humans but could easily co-exist with robots. We also talked a lot about retro-futurism and making the space feel "new but old". For this I did a lot of research based on Googie architecture from the space age and sci-fi media starting in the early 60's like the Jetsons or Star Trek.

As the Assistant Scenic Designer, I was in consultation with the designer and director throughout design process to help research understand and create the design. I also took samples of the Designer's color elevations and early preliminary drawings and implemented them in the model and set construction. Along with designing multiple pieces to match the style of the set design, such as Pirelli's Wagon and the color and texture of the central rolling platform. Once we entered the build process I took on the roll of Assistant Scenic Artist leading our Art and Paint Crews.

A Waco Community Theater's production of James and the Giant Peach. With this particular production the Scenic Designer was also acting as producing director requiring me to step in and oversee implementation of the design throughout the process. I was acting as the sole Scenic and Props Artist until we got a small crew of 4 volunteers. Once we got our volunteers I took on the the role of leading them in our paint and props crew
